Abstract:
The mainstay of the paper is formed by an analysis of the role of cognitive skills in the process of economic development, growing educational wage gaps, and markets for academic research. This paper seeks to fill a gap in the current literature by examining cognitive skills as a direct measure of human capital, the impact of cognitive skills on individual earnings, and the implications of policies designed to improve educational outcomes.
