Abstract:
About a quarter of the Swiss firms with more than five employees adopted a new environmentally friendly energy technology in the period 2012–2014. These firms invested on average about 13% of their gross physical investments in the adoption of such technologies. Energy policy measures have been an important driving force for the adoption; especially public subsidies, taxes, voluntary agreements/standards, and demand related factors were positively related with the adoption probability. These policy measures did not have any significant (negative) impact on the international competitiveness of firms.
