Abstract: Construction is one of the largest but also one of the most difficult sectors of the economy. Disputes arising in connection with construction projects are very complicated ones which causes that their solution is a time-consuming process and, consequently, contributes to the delay of construction projects, exposing both the investor and the contractor to huge losses. For this reason, an entrepreneur in the construction industry should adopt such a mode of dispute resolution which will allow for the swift and deformalised solution. This article aims to present the most common causes of disputes in the construction matters and characterisation of one of the alternative ways of solving them, that is the arbitration proceedings.
