A Review of the Cohesion Policy Impact on the Investment Activity of Construction Enterprises in Bulgaria

Abstract: The article summarises information about grants received by enterprises in the construction sector in Bulgaria under the European Regional Development Fund. The analysis is based on data of the Unified Management Information System for Management and Monitoring of the EU Structural Instruments, and covers the programming period 2007-2013. Enterprises in the construction sector have indirect access to the European funds also as contractors under European projects. This is why a review of the public procurement construction contracts awarded in Bulgaria has been made, focusing on their importance for economic growth and employment. Some possibilities were outlined to improve the use of the European funds by enterprises in the construction sector in the future in order to increase their investment activity.
