Abstract:
The objective of the paper is to point out the importance of cooperation between companies in order to facilitate their internationalization, based on the example of Slovak-foreign joint ventures and to present institutions supporting these partnerships. We posit that foreign expansion is an important motive for the cooperation of the enterprises. This hypothesis is tested on the sample of 44 Slovak-foreign joint ventures, which participated in the questionnaire survey. Furthermore, we aim to present various options supporting the cooperation of companies in Slovakia, based on own experience and knowledge gained during the work for Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). According to the survey, the majority of companies are satisfied with joint venture performance and plan to continue their cooperation. Motives linked to the foreign expansion are among the most important for the joint venture establishment. The awareness of institutions' tools supporting partnerships is rather limited among Slovak companies. Research about establishment motives and satisfaction with the joint venture performance has not been conducted yet in Slovakia.
