Eficiencia en entidades bancarias. El caso argentino 2004 ? 2016

Daniel Hoyos

Económica, 2021, vol. 67, 69-92

Abstract: This paper presents an efficiency analysis in the Argentine banking sector using Data Envelopment Analysis and Stochastic Frontier Approach. The estimates use data from a sample of 35 banks corresponding to the period 2004-2016. The results indicate that, on average, banks are more efficient adopting a more transactional profile. This efficiency increases considerably between 2004 and 2010 although since 2010 the technical efficiency has stagnated. Finally, there is a low association between the order of banks obtained through the application of the aforementioned techniques and that arising from the reports of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic, allowing to infer that the results obtained are not redundant and could enrich this analysis.
