Abstract: The aim of the article is to enhance the understanding that bibliographic review is a mean to improve the contribution of doctoral theses in the discipline. To do so, the different audiences to which it is directed are identified, some contributions are articulated to illustrate moments of the bibliographic review, and the steps to carry it out are suggested, as well as guidance examples are provided. The article also alerts on the abundance of sources on the internet and how the positive relationship with the director and/or advisor can contribute positively. Finally, the article concludes that a solid argumentative construction relies on an appropriate review of documentary sources, and that this task must be recognized in the framework of doctoral maturation, hence the value of different instances of accompaniment offered by the doctoral program.
