Abstract:
The growing importance and interest that have been acquiring small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country's economic activity, has led to the completion of several studies, both public and private, through surveys and registries have characterized different themes for these businesses. In this context, the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, part of the National Central University of Buenos Aires Province (UNCPBA), located in the city of Olavarría, is currently developing a research project called ̈ Chain value and impact of the key activities in the competitive behavior of SMEs ̈ in order to assess their value chains and generate suggestions for improvements that positively impact their competitiveness and sustainability in the sector they belong to. Consequently, the relevance of this study focuses on determining the predominant activities of Argentine SMEs, national, regional and local levels, so as to inform the choice of the target population of this project.
