Abstract: The aim of this study was to conduct an analysis of the development of SMEs in Mexico in order to try to find out if the company policy to have had a positive impactor not, for this purpose first develops the theme of the government influence on the growth process and permanence of SMEs; subsequently a brief sketch about the problems of this sector, then analyzes the evolution of the Mexican business sector, finally, shows the evolution of policies corporate public and evaluations that have been conducted on the impact of the same in the Mexican SMEs. The main conclusion of this work is that the policies have been insufficient to support the creation, retention and development of SMEs (considering both the number of economic units as the jobs created), especially those of the same industrial sector has lost competitiveness against a large company.
