Abstract:
The first part of this work considers the evolution of coffee income in relation to the variables which affect it, such as: the retention, the ad valorem tax, and the domestic buying prices, Over the years 1975-1984. Three sub-periods can be distinguished: (a) 1975-1977: of rapidly rising real income having production increase in over 50 percent, up to 1979; (b) May 1977-August 1982;of rapidly decreasing real income: (c) August 1982-up to the present: when the producer 's income remains stable. The increase in production and the effectiveness of the Coffee World Agreement make necessary, restrictive supply measures and in the last part of this work an economic evaluation is made of the different means adopted to achieve this aim and their possible effects on the Colombian coffee economy, over the next years.
