Abstract:
This work aim is to show some methodological elements which might explain the relationship between social classes and political parties and their influence in the conformation of the Colombian state, during the second half of the nineteenth century. In an attempt to overcome the economic and mechanical schemes a regional point of view is adopted, emphasizing the political influence of the legitimating processes. The text gathers the historical experience, concerning the political alliance between the different groups of export traders, taking into account the sharing of economic and corporate interests, which allowed the motivation at the mid-century (1850) political reforms. This work also considers the differential party inscription due to different legitimating processes. Lastly, it analyzes the influence of the bipartisan system in the shaping of the Colombian nationality
