La economía y lo social en la reforma constitucional de 1936

Álvaro Tirado Mejía

Lecturas de Economía, 1986, issue 21, 81-98

Abstract: This article analyses the various Colombian Constitutions most particularly that of 1936. It is shown that while each Constitution deals with certain constants (republicanism, the separation of powers, and the guarantee of individual liberties) it also demonstrates characteristics specific to its historical moment. In the case of the National Constitution of 1936 this latter element featured a sharp break with the traditional framework, meeting the challenge of the twentieth century with a new emphasis on the intervention of the State in the society.
