Lecturas de Economía, 1989, issue 29, 51-117
Abstract:
This paper examines the financial crisis which took place in Colombia during 1982 and its effect in the economy of the country. As a starting point, the paper establishes a basic principle: the financial crisis having as a main cause the financial behavior of the productive companies; it also establishes two main hypotheses: the first one saying that between 1970 and 1982 Colombian economy changed from a relatively strong financial structure to one that became increasingly weak. The second one acknowledging that during the analyzed period the financial behavior of the non-financial firms led to domestic capital mobility (in relation to its productive uses and towards financial domestic fields).
