Abstract:
This paper examines the impact of macroeconomics and trade policy on the dynamics and character of the agricultural sector (excluding coffee) in the colombian western region during the 1980's. As it is well known, the relationship between macroeconomic policy and agricultural output can be captured with observations of the tradeable and non-tradeable goods in relation to the real exchange rate. However, during certain periods relative prices series show significant divergence with respect to the RER. Wetry to explain this phenomenon and other determinants of agricultural output in the Colombian western region.
