Abstract: In contrast with previous studies on university drop-out, which have tried to explain it only according to some of the features that theoretically have been proposed, this article analyzes the student’s drop-out problem in the University of Antioquia incorporating jointly individual, academical, socioeconomical and institutional factors as the problem’s main determinants. The results obtained with the application of duration models and, specifically, the comparison between proportional hazard models with and without unobserved heterogeneity; seem to provide evidence on the joint importance of these four aspects
