Abstract:
In light of the spatial mismatch theory, this study presents an impact evaluation of the Metroplus mass transport system on employment, formality and underemployment in some neighborhoods of the communes Manrique and Aranjuez of the city of Medellin, Colombia, in the years 2010 and 2014. The empirical strategy consists of applying the differences-in-differences model, where the database used corresponds to the Quality of Life Survey (2010, 2014). The results suggest that the Metroplus has improved both the probability of being employed and of having a formal job; also, it has shown a causal effect on the reduction of underemployment.
