Banking And Development In A Central Javanese City

Richard S. Weckstein

Economics and Finance in Indonesia, 1959, vol. 10, 189-203

Abstract: This study is based on the presumption that banks have a positive role to play in economic development. This will be so where economic development is based, at least in part, on the introduction of new products and methods by new private firms. For, self-generative sources of finance are not available to new firms and hence their activity may depend on the readiness of banks to advance funds to them.
