Some Institutional Aspects In National And Regional Development

J. E. Ismael

Economics and Finance in Indonesia, 1963, vol. 14, 23-32

Abstract: Since 1961, security has been swiftly restored in Indonesia. Previously the revolts had resulted in the destruction of social overheat capital, instruments of production and wealth and had caused spiritual and physical ruin and suffering. Thus the restoration of security made it obligatory to take the follow-up steps : in the form of rehabilitation of personnel and also of materials for revival of economic life in general and apart from rehabilitation, execution of the Pattern of Planned Overall National Development (the Eight Year Plan) immediately and obviously became an acute matter. Had it not been this matter of development and the opinion that there was lack of attention and lack of response to the will to accomplish development in the regions more quickly that had been one of the motives and reasons for the rise of turbulence in the regions in the past.
