Abstract:
A policy to provide protection to the domestic industry, industries still quie new which were established by InidOnfesiams, has been implemented by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in various fonms. Protection has been provided against foreign competition i as well as against domestic competition. Sometimes lassistance has i been given in the form of purchasing oontraots from the Government or a Government agency. Protection against foreign comipetition was provided by sufficiently high tariffs. If tariff protection was not sufficient, the Government could introduce quotas, i.e., quantitative restrictions, against competitive import commodities or completely prohibit the imiportation of such goods.
