Abstract: The purpose of the article is to compare the manpower and employment factual situation in Indonesia as revealed by the 1961 census with that revealed by the 1971 census. The tendency after the 2nd World War fpr the population to be younger in age structure has been continued in the decade of 1961 - 1971. In 1971, 53.7% the population was at age 19 or below. In 1961 it was 50,1%. The greatest increase in population is within the 10 - 14 age group.
