Abstract:
In Indonesia there is no uniform lata of population registration which can be applied to all stratifications of the whole society. Following colonial government in the past, at the moment four government departments are responsible population regristration: the Ministries of Justice, Domestic Affairs, Health and Religion. Because every institution uses its own method definitions, rights, organization and apparatus vary. In addition, because the "man in the street" does not take population registration seriously inaccuracies of the population statistics arise which hinders its scientific analysis and interpretation.
