A Note On Adaptive Technology In The Context Of Regional Planning In Indonesia; The Case Of South Sulawesi

Abstract: This article attempts to highlight some aspects of regional planning in Indonesia with regard to adaptive technology and the role of regional non-metropolitan universities in this context. Rural development pattern might be shaped by regional planners and development policies by manipulating the balance between traditional skills and present technology capabilities. The role of Hasanuddin University in the planning and implementation of adaptive technology in South Sulawesi will be discusses here as a case study. The main purpose is to point out some of the basic problems encountered as well as some of the likely prospects for the future.
