Abstract:
The final outcome of a development effort is essentially the product of interrelations of three factors which affect each other namely : 1. Natural resources 2. Population 3. technology Of the three factors ahove, population has heen and will he, in the future, the most difficult to manage hecause it has heen left to grow unchecked for decades, until the First Five Year Plan. The population question has three important aspects: the prohiem of extreme density in Java; the prohiem of employment; and the prohiem of welfare. Density in Java will increase from 620 per sq.km. in 1975 to 767 per sq.km in 1985 and 1.100 per sq.km. in the year 2000, which means greater effort must he devoted to disperse the population.
