Ekonomi Regional: Suatu Perkembangan dalam Ilmu Ekonomi

Sjafrizal

Economics and Finance in Indonesia, 1983, vol. 31, 163-184

Abstract: Regional economics which was rapidly developed during the 1950s was newly introduced to Indonesia during the periode. This new field of economics was welcomed enthusiastically by some economists who realized that regional economic development was important as one of the way to reach national goals. On the other hand, however, there are still various questions, such as relating to the roles of regional development in solving the problems of regions and urban areas, and as well as the question relating the particularity of regional economics, whether what is found in regional economy can also be generalized. Hence, it is questioned whether regional economics is able to be considered a new field in economic studies and able to be an independent field. This article is aimed to answer such general questions.
