Abstract: This paper discusses the profile, potential, and deveiopment of finance in Kotamadya (municipality) Padang Panjang, and it basically indicates a way to analyze the sources of regional income in Indonesia. According to the Laws No. 5, 1974 on the principals of govermenti administrations in the regions, the sources of income for Regional Government are basically different; (I) Sources Which exist within regions, and are stated in APBD (according to the principle of decentralization), and (2) sources which originates from outside the regions, or fund from APBN. This fund is allocated through sectoral departments (according to the principle of deconcentrate) as well as in the form of Inpres fund (according to the principle of aids).
