Abstract: Artikel ini mengkaji pentingnya hubungan usaha dalam bentuk subkontrak dalam industri tembaga di Tumang, Jawa Tengah. Perhatian khusus diberikan untuk melihat proses inovasi teknologi dan peran yang dimainkan oleh perusahaan-perusahaan subkontrak. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa walaupun tingkat keuntungan yang diperoleh perusahaan subkontrak lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan perusahaan-perusahaan non-subkontrak, namun tingkat output yang dihasilkan jauh lebih besar.
