Abstract:
In the last three decades, Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) has become a very important data set and analytical tool to analyze the impact of economic policies on income distribution in various countries, particularly in the developing ones. As an analytical tool, SAM provides a way to calculate the total and decompositional impact of an economic policy on income distribution. Particularly, through the multiplier matrix and its Pyatt and Round decomposition derived from a SAM, one is able to observe the impact of an economic policy on income distribution. Since the multiplier and its Pyatt and Round decomposition matrices are important for income distribution analysis, there is a need to show that from any SAM one should be able to find the multiplier matrix and Pyatt and Round decomposition of the multiplier matrix. This paper proves that for any SAM there exists a multiplier matrix and a Pyatt and Round decomposition of the multiplier matrix.
