Abstract: Devoted to the idea of peace, V.V. Pella conveyed to the world the ideal of international law based on this supreme value, which he considered necessary for resettling the "edifice of the world on the foundation of justice and international order". The famous Romanian legal scholar’s name is connected to the great development projects of this field, promoted with lucidity and courage, in the interwar period, within the League of Nations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the International Law Association, the International Association of Penal Law and, later, in Nuremberg and within the United Nations.
