Abstract: P. P. Carp's option in favor of diplomacy was not conjectural because it expressed the conscious choice of an individual who had built a strategy regarding his own political career. The politician was sure that diplomacy would bring him: competence, fame and connections. He also benefited from these during his missions in Paris (1866-1867) and Vienna (1871-1873).
