Abstract: Having in mind the various difficulties to integrate a particular donation into a category, as well as the ethical consequences of the present ambiguities, recently, the ELPAT group on living donors (Ethical, Legal and Psychological Aspects of Organ Transplantation) has proposed a new clarification for living organ donors. This classification (Dor et al., 2011) attempts to avoid ambiguities and the other problems of current taxonomies. Our text proposes an ethically-oriented interpretation of the new classifications of living donors proposed by the research group from ELPAT, classification that has been published in Transplantation. Differently from previous classification, that could lead into ethical and medical suspicions, the new classification aims at diminishing as much as possible the differences in evaluation, interpretation and classification that could appear between different professionals and in their relation with donors.
