Abstract: This article gathers a series of considerations on forms of the patriarchate in the Balkan area. In the article are examined attitudes and behaviours in the socio-political field addressed from the socio-religious perspective and by reason of patriarchal relations which favour the gender discrimination. If we try to understand patriarchate in a generic sense, we would perceive it as the power where the existence of free will and discernment for broad categories of people is denied in favour of a patriarch, “favourable to symbolic a father, a spiritual father, or if you want political or ideological father, which has the monopoly of discernment, freedom, the monopoly of being the normaliser and legislator” Many cultural values and patterns from the composition of the Balkan mosaic produce gender differences in both the community and within the family, so that, in both normal and natural that have come to give legitimacy to all kinds of gender domination. In the Balkans, perhaps more than anywhere in Europe, most families are under the traditional and unconditioned authority of a man / father / husband, as a form of patriarchate which find its roots in the most remote times, even from the Old Testament.
