Abstract: The paper deals with the institution of guardians board as it is settled by the provisions of the New Romanian Civil Code (287/2009 Law). Already existing in the settlement of the French Civil Code (1804) and the Romanian Civil Code(1864), the institution of the guardians board was reintroduced by the New Romanian Civil Code, as an optional way of the infant protection, having a consultative role. The paper approaches the role of the board of guardians, its structure and change, the procedure of creating the institution of guardians board, the way this organism functions, its prerogatives, the way of substituting the board of guardians.
