Abstract: The bridge-bank is new in the Romanian banking legislation. According to our lawmaker, it is a credit institution, but, with special features in relation with the credit institutions stated by our banking law. It was designed with a very well determined purpose – of achieving the “stabilizing measures” approved by the National Bank of Romania regarding distressed credit institutions. We shall analyze the legal statute of the bridge-bank, in terms of its constituents, establishing for each the specificity, and using the law as mean of comparison.
