Abstract: The article "Migration and Economic Development. Comparative Analysis: Romania-Italy " is part of the dissertation titled "Religion and Migration in Contemporary Romania. Case Study: Romanians in Italy" and is actually the second dimension contained in the thesis, namely migration and development, migration and religion being the first dimension. Migration is a social process has an influence greater than ever in todays Romanian society. It is selective and dynamic, therefore requires a comprehensive approach. Remittances of money from the Romanians abroad are the most reliable source of financing the external deficit in recent years. After several years of sustained growth and in current conditions marked by social and political changes, reported remittance flows have decreased significantly. Evolution comes amid international financial and economic crisis and the deterioration of world economies. The subject of the present article is the interaction between migration and development based on data provided by the authors in the field of migration and economic and statistical data from progressively to various dimensions of development in a broader conceptual framework of migration and specific theory on current development and migration. The entire analysis is centered around the theory of neoclassical economics applied to macro and micro level with the current version of international migration - transnational migration. The general assumption is that external migration of population in Romania is essentially driven by economic differences.
