Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the dynamic relationship between monetary and banking variables and life insurance demand. The sample of this study includes all insurance companies in Iran during the years 1989-2016. In order to examine the short run and long run correlation between the variables, we use VAR and VEC models. The results do not indicate any significant short-term relationship between the banking profit rates and demand for the life insurance. Also, our findings confirm the significance of dynamic relationship among the banking profit rates, private sector credits, the life and non-life insurance penetration rates, money supply and demand for the life insurance. The results also show that there is not any significant relationship between non-life insurance penetration rate and demand for life insurance. Moreover, in the short term, the money supply and demand for life insurance have not any significant relationship. According to the research, it is suggested the insurance companies can make a strong alternative choice besides banks deposit in Iranian financial market by providing innovative and attractive products in the insurance industry.
