(NCNA, December 29, 1977) Fang I, a member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee and vice-president of the Academy of Sciences, delivered "A Report on the State of Science and Education" at the Seventh Enlarged Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Fourth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. An excerpt follows: On behalf of the State Council, I will talk to the Seventh Enlarged Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Fourth National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference on the state of science and education in China.
