Abstract:
After the Third Plenary Session of the CCP 11th Central Committee, the Party center decided to reform the national economy according to the "eight-character policy" of readjustment, restructuring, consolidation, and improvement. Practices over the last two years testified to the correctness of this policy. For a still better implementation of the policy, the center has decided to take more vigorous readjustment measures in an effort to stabilize the economy and then proceed for further development. At this juncture, it is absolutely necessary to convene this symposium to discuss the theory of overall balance of the national economy. The conference will not only give impetus to studies of the theory of overall balance but also bear immediate significance for our endeavor to implement the Party's eight-character policy, effectively readjust the national economy, and speed up the four modernizations process.
