Why Is the United States Anxious to Resume Talks with China on China's Entrance into the WTO?

Abstract: Let us start with the strategic interests of the United States. In reality, the United States is a country that takes ideology most seriously. For the last twenty years or so, the United States has consistently exerted great effort in selling its ideology to other countries around the world. This includes such things as liberalized trade, a more liberal flow of capital, globalization, and the corresponding ideas of neoliberal economics. These are the ideologies of the United States, as well as where the strategic interests of the United States lie. In other words, all policies and measures that conform to these ideologies will also be in conformity with U.S. strategic interests.
