Efficiency of Chinese Banks: A Survey and Suggested Directions for Future Research

Abstract: This article reviews twenty research articles on Chinese bank efficiency. The methodologies on efficiency and the relationship between efficiency and its correlates are summarized and compared. The primary empirical results and the impact of regulation are categorized and discussed. The implications for future regulation enactments are clarified. We also point out several research remarks for future directions.
