Abstract: Our great leader, Chairman Mao, teaches us:"We have a rural population of more than 500 million, so the condition of our peasants has a most important bearing on the development of our economy and the consolidation of our political power." Following our nationwide victory, the fate of the dictatorship of the proletariat and of the socialist system depended on whether the peasants were led down the socialist road or down the capitalist road.
