Some Evidence on Elasticities of Demand for Services of Public Railway Passenger Transportation in Slovenia

Abstract:
The article presents evidence on elasticities of demand for services of railway passenger transportation in Slovenia. According to the aggregate values of demand elasticities, the railway passenger demand is price and income inelastic. Coefficients of income elasticity of demand below unity show that, for the average consumer, the services of railway passenger transportation in Slovenia can be classified among essential consumer expenditures. Recorded price inelasticity of demand implies that revenues of the Slovenian Railway Company increase when the average real fare increases.
