The Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on the Financial Performance of Romanian E-Commerce Companies

Abstract: The paper aims to analyze how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected e-commerce by comparing the companies’ financial performance before and during the pandemic. The sample included Romanian e-commerce companies with more than one million euros in sales from 2019–2020. The research results of the econometric model showed that the most well-known brand companies registered lower values of financial performance, and there were no significant differences before and during Covid-19 in companies’ activities. Although e-commerce was resilient during the Covid-19 period, the research results may be helpful for managers to focus on elements that enhance companies’ economic results.
