The Future of the Service Industry in Japan
Kazuyuki Matsumoto
Japanese Economy, 1992, vol. 20, issue 4, 3-29
Abstract:
In preceding chapters of this book, we have seen how to define service industries and have reviewed how the Japanese economy shifted toward a service economy. While we can say that the service sector is not as extensive in Japan as in the United States or in Britain, it has been shown that the shares of the tertiary industry and service industry are the growing trend even in Japan and, in particular, this tendency has accelerated considerably in recent years.
