Japan's Corporate Capitalism in Peril
Hiroshi Okumura
Japanese Economy, 1993, vol. 21, issue 4, 3-23
Abstract:
Capitalism without capitalists: Yataro Iwasaki (1834-1885), who founded the Mitsubishi Co. about 120 years ago and then later built the Mitsubishi zaibatsu around it, openly and without apology proclaimed, "The Mitsubishi Company is nominally a corporation, but it is in fact entirely a private enterprise of the Iwasaki family in which all decisions are made by and all profits belong to the president, myself."
