Abstract: In April 1991, some seventy sokaiya and corporate executives of the general affairs departments of major Japanese corporations met at Chiyoda, a ryotei (high-class Japanese restaurant) in Tokyo. 1 Mitsuyoshi Miharu, a prominent sokaiya in the Tokyo area, was the host.
