Abstract:
The study investigated the relationship between ethical culture and employee productivity in the Rivers State Civil Service. Also, the moderating effect of intention to stay on the relationship between the variables was examined. A sample of 321was determined using Krejcie and Morgan sample size table from a population of 1905 Civil Servants from five top ministries in the Rivers State Civil Service. Data for the study was obtained through the utilization of a self-administered and structured questionnaire. The Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation Coefficient was used in analyzing the data with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 21. The results indicated moderate and positive correlations among the dimensions of ethical culture and employee productivity. Also, employee’s intention to stay slightly moderated the relationship between the two variables. However, the moderating role was not significant enough to reject the null hypothesis. This means that positive ethical culture enhances employee productivity in the Civil Service and hence should be encouraged.
