Abstract:
The aim of this study is to analyze how students perceive barriers to entrepreneurship. Based on data collected by a questionnaire on a sample of 193 students from University of Primorska (Slovenia), we identified five factors related to barriers to entrepreneurship. By adopting a cluster analysis, we divided the sample into four distinct groups of students based on their perceived barriers to entrepreneurship. The latter enabled us to identify the group of students with the highest potential for entrepreneurship (i. e. prospective and limited entrepreneurs) and according to this provide advise on how to decrease the perceived barriers and contribute to the development of competencies that are necessary for starting their own business.
