Abstract: This paper aims to describe the systems of social enterprise currently operating in Korea to provide job opportunities for the poor and socially disadvantaged; to examine the problems and difficulties underlying the operation and implementation of these systems; and to suggest some means of addressing these problems, given the understanding that they are likely to manifest themselves both now and in the near future. To this end, we examine the existing system of social enterprise in Korea using interviews and content analysis, and then put forward some policy suggestions whereby policymakers and practitioners in Korea may be able to bring about improvements.
