Estimates of Economic Complexity in the Structure of the Regional Economy

Abstract: In this article it is considered the problem of grouping regions according to the structure of strong sectors, identifying features of formed groups and assessing their economic complexities. Minimum spanning trees are constructed to identify groups of regions with close structure of strong sectors. It was found the consistency of economic complexity of the region with the economic complexities of its neighbors, with whom it is directly related by an edge on the minimal spanning tree. The results of the regional grouping on the minimal spanning tree do not contradict the results of clustering of regions by GRP sectoral structure, which were previously obtained by the authors. Groups of regions by structure of strong sectors were typologized in accordance with the current classifier of economic sectors.
