Poland: A Country Study ¡°Europe¡¯s Poster Child to Europe¡¯s Problem Child¡±

Abstract: This article views economic and political events in Poland today in the context of the economic transition that began in 1989. The paper considers issues relating to attracting the creation of the Balcerowicz Plan, foreign direct investment, the current unstable political scene, and concerns for political corruption. It provides the most recent economic statistics relating to many of these issues.
